N1SM Adapter Overview

Introduction

The Hedeby OSProvisioner component is responsible for re-provisioning operating systems to host resources which are provided by one or more N1SM managed clusters. For that purpose the Hedeby OSProvisioner component is talking to one or more Hedeby OS Dispatcher components running on each N1SM manager host. The OSDispatcher component itself is using an adapter interface to communicate with the installed N1SM software.

The Hedeby N1SM adapter component is using the N1SH shell as interface to communicate with the N1SM system.

The basically use cases for the Hedeby software is to get information about managed host resources and operating systems. This includes also to get events when the configuration of a host resource or operating system has changed. One of the largest needs for the Hedeby software is to find out which OS images can be provisioned to which host resources.

When the Hedeby software has all requested information about host resources and operating systems it also has the possibility to trigger the re-provisioning or initial-provisioning of an operating system of a managed N1SM server resource.

After re-provisioning an operating system N1SM Adapter will also install the Hedeby Executor component via N1SH shell on the managed resource.
